5 Crafts To Celebrate The Arrival Of Spring
Spring is always associated with joy, bright colors, budding vegetation and lots of flowers. Therefore, we can not think of a better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than by tinkering.
Below you will find some fantastic crafts to try with your children.
Crafts to celebrate the arrival of spring
Flowers
Since flowers are characteristic of spring, there is no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than to create flowers.
Since flowers are quite easy to make, you can use different materials. Below we take up three very simple and fun tips for making flowers.
- You can use ice cream sticks or other sticks. Use one of the sticks to make the stem and another eight sticks to make the petals. You can use colored sticks or paint your flower when it is ready.
- You can use small disposable plates to make flowers. All you have to do is paint them in whatever color you want and voilà!
- To make flower petals, you can use macaroni or any other pasta that the children like to use.
Birds
Children love animals, and chirping birds are another thing associated with spring. Therefore, paper birds are another great activity to do with your children. To do this, you only need three materials:
- Finger color.
- Felt-tip pens.
- Sheets of paper in different colors.
Start by having your children dip their palm in the finger paint and place it horizontally on a sheet of paper. The fingers form the wings and the palm itself becomes the bird’s face. Then ask your children to draw the bird’s beak and eyes, and their birds are ready to fly!
Larvae
Larvae are also very characteristic of spring. To do them with your children, you need:
- Colored pom pom balls.
- Clothespins.
- Glue.
- Movable, self-adhesive eyes.
The first step is to glue the pom pom balls in a row on one of the sides of a clothespin. You can mix and match the colored pom pom balls you want to make colorful creations.
Finally, and to make the larvae look more vivid, paste the self-adhesive, moving eyes on them.
Butterflies
Butterflies also belong to spring. To make them you need:
- Cardboard from some toilet rolls.
- Colored paper in different colors.
- Glitter.
- Scissor.
- Glue.
Make the butterfly’s body out of the box. Then use the colored paper to make the wings and attach them to the back of the body. Use glitter to decorate the wings. You can also use other materials to decorate them, such as stickers.
Paint the butterfly’s face with a felt-tip pen or use moving, self-adhesive eyes to make it look more vivid.
A mural to celebrate spring
Most children like to express their creativity and imagination by drawing and painting. So if you offer them a really big white wall to paint on, they will love covering it with colors.
To begin with, read some children’s books related to spring with your children so that they can see what really characterizes spring.
Then you as a family, and with a lot of creativity, can paint everything you learned from the pages of the book on a large white wall. It can be outdoors or indoors, permanently or more temporarily with e.g. street crayons that disappear when it rains. Just make sure you own the wall to be painted! Alternatively, you can put up a large sheet of paper on a wall that you can paint on.
In this way , you challenge your children’s memory, concentration and attention, as well as their ability to draw and read. Can you imagine a more complete activity?
