Many parents desperately wonder why their baby does not stop crying and do not know what to do. Here we will try to give tips that can help.

Babies express themselves by crying, but when they are constantly crying, they even try patience and it can be difficult to see a way out.

My baby does not stop crying: Is it normal?

A baby crying can be heartbreaking and can make it really hard to enjoy parenthood. You have probably heard parents say, “I can not sleep because my baby cries so much,” and you see that they are tired and in a bad mood.

You may also have seen parents who have given up completely, and say that “children are crying, it is normal”.

Even if children use crying to communicate what they feel or need, they should not spend their days crying. When is it understandable and when is it excessive?

Not all babies are the same, you probably already knew that. Also keep in mind that newborns have a tendency to cry more. Everything is completely new to them and they do not understand their bodies and emotions yet.

Reasons why your child does not stop crying

The first step is to determine why the baby is crying. One of the most common causes is colic,  which has a range of symptoms such as stomach pain, gas, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation. It can be very uncomfortable for the baby.

Babies can also cry because they are hungry. Breast milk may not be enough to completely saturate the baby and it therefore requires gruel. Ask your pediatrician for advice on this.

Another possible reason behind crying is that the baby may be sensitive to high temperatures or that the clothes are too tight. It may not be able to stand when the diaper is wet or the baby may just be very sleepy and may not sleep very well.

Did you know that some babies get nervous in environments that do not give them the peace they need? It is a common cause of crying.

In that case, you can resort to musical techniques to calm the child or take the child out in the pram or in the car. A change in the environment contributes to less stress and anxiety.

My baby does not stop crying and I can not do anything about it!

It is a common problem, especially among first-time parents. Usually they do not know how to stop the baby crying and this of course makes them worried.

What they may not know is that anxiety passes to the child, and that may be why all the techniques they try do not help.

So the first step is for mom and dad to calm down. Leave the baby with someone else for a while and take the help of meditation or breathing exercises, go out alone for a while, drink some tea or take a nap.

When you feel calm again, you can take the baby in your arms and hold it to your chest so that it can feel mom’s or dad’s heart beating.

Some people recommend taking off your sweater to get the most out of your skin contact. In addition, lullabies, singing and caresses can help a lot.

Another option is the relaxation technique “The Hold”, invented by the American doctor.  Hold the baby against the chest with one hand and tilt it 45 degrees gently. Try to make sure that the baby’s head does not tilt too far forward.

Finally, rock the baby back and forth and move the hips around in a circle. Your little one will probably calm down at once (but of course it does not work with all babies)!

If you have ever said “my baby does not stop crying” , we recommend this technique when you have ruled out all health problems and other causes of discomfort.

Your pediatrician can help you if this is your first child and you do not know how to calm him or her down. Do not hesitate to ask!
